Abstract Watercolor

The junior high students have been working on creating an abstract watercolor.  I cannot take credit for the assignment.  I found it HERE.  We followed the step by step directions beginning with applying masking fluid and then adding a watercolor wash for the background.  Once the kids completed these first two steps, we began adding details with watercolors, watercolor pencils and/or colored pencils.  Here are some pictures from the first couple of days.

Making progress . . .

Finally, some up close finished paintings!

The kids enjoyed working on these.  It gave them an opportunity to experiment with various materials in a way that was ok if they messed up.  Stop by later in the week for an update on the high school art scene.

Until then!
